Daniel Barclay (Drill) commented on DRILL-2604:
-----------------------------------------------

Don't forget to check what the SQL specification says.

(I think I saw that it says that implicit cast rules are
implementation-defined, but there could be some requirement or prohibitions.)

> Make sure implicit casting rules are the same across drill

> This is an enhancement request to standartize rules of implicit cast.
> It would be nice if rules in joins, set operations and functions where the
> same.
> Number of inconistencies have been found and reported under:
> drill-2549 - Implicit Cast between integer and varchar columns in a join
> should work
> drill-2433 - Implicit cast between date and timestamp is missing in joins
> We agreed that this is not 1.0 item and above mentioned bugs will not be
> resolved by GA
