Jacques Nadeau commented on DRILL-3241:
---------------------------------------

The purpose was (is?) to try to recover before giving up. For example, if we
can ask the sort to spill and then reattempt the message copy at that time, So
much has changed in memory handling since that time that I'm not sure what our
current status is.

> Query with window function runs out of direct memory and does not report back
> to client that it did

> Even though query run out of memory and was cancelled on the server, client
> (sqlline) was never notified of the event and it appears to the user that
> query is hung.
