Is is very common issue on the Splunk side:

But unfortunately there is no clear solution for it.
The issue can be bypassed by Drill via trying to reconnect to Splunk. Looks
like it will lead to successful connection. Additional {{reconnectRetries}}
property can be added to Drill Splunk storage plugin to control the number of
retries.
