I was looking into what I believe is a similar bug with a call to the currently
undefined implementation of the repeated_count function on a repeated varchar.
It looks like for repeated functions we are invoking the implicit cast rules to
find matching functions, but we don not currently support casting the inner
elements of a repeated field to another type. This is causing code compilation
errors in these cases, as the cast function definitions are not designed to
take repeated fields as input currently. I agree we should produce a more
useful message in the meantime until we have implementations for the missing
functionality.
