I think both of these issues were result of incompatibility of current version
of ASM library and Java 8.
Could you please try running the tests on my custom branch at
https://github.com/adityakishore/incubator-drill/tree/JAVA-8-SUPPORT.
Please ensure that you clean the workspace with {{mvn clean}} before
compiling/testing.
