Did you look into how big the diff would be if we apply scalafmt to our code 
base?

There have been some attempts in the past to standardize the Scala (and Java) 
code style a bit more but most of them lost steam because they would require 
too many changes which will make it harder to track the history of real changes 
in a file. I myself am a big fan of things like rustfmt, gofmt, 
google-java-format but I think it might be too late to add sth like it to Flink.
