Nawab Zada Asad iqbal commented on FLINK-19152:
-----------------------------------------------
[~aljoscha] , there is functionality like ratelimiting
{{FlinkConnectorRateLimiter rateLimiter}} which is only available in
{{FlinkKafkaConsumer010}} but not in the modern form {{FlinkKafkaConsumer}}. Is
there a design discussion regarding why this is discontinued? What is the
proposed alternative? I would like to use ratelimiting so that my sink target
(e.g. elastic search index) is not overwhlemed by the flink consumer.
> Remove Kafka 0.10.x and 0.11.x connectors

> In short, 0.10.x and 0.11.x are very old and you can use the "modern" Kafka
> connector to connect to older brokers/clusters. Plus, if push comes to shove,
> users can use the code from 1.11 and compile it against a newer Flink release.
