I got a bit lost in the discussion, but if I understood @wuchong's options
right, I prefer the first option. Automatically converting `DECIMAL` to
`DOUBLE` can result in rounding errors. However, the whole purpose of `DECIMAL`
is to provide exact results. So I would rather request an explicit cast than
computing unexpected imprecise results.
