Thanks for looking into this. So your proposal is to keep the netty structure as-is. Merge this PR as-is, and release a flink-shaded 17.1 for Flink 1.20, with the latest netty versions. (Flink 1.20 depends on flink-shaded 17.0). I like that idea. Side question: is there a way to test if Flink will work properly with the latest shaded netty versions?
