Unchanged backport of https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/29533 (f2aa53456cb). `runTest` queues `close()` and returns without waiting for it, so `afterAll` can shut the executor down while the last test's requirements check is still running. The rejected `handleAsync` in `DefaultSlotStatusSyncer#allocateSlot` then ends the surefire fork with exit code 239. Last seen on this branch in https://dev.azure.com/apache-flink/98463496-1af2-4620-8eab-a2ecc1a2e6fe/_build/results?buildId=80276&view=logs&j=77a9d8e1-d610-59b3-fc2a-4766541e0e33 (nightly 2026-10-19, `test_cron_azure core`). With a `requestSlot` that blocks until the executor is shut down, this branch crashed in 10 of 10 JVMs before the change and in 0 of 30 class runs with the `runTest` wait.
