I think the suggested approach is a good workaround until there is a proper
infrastructure in the system for handling this case.
Note that the streaming graph builder is probably ignoring the
`NonParallelInput` interface, because the batch optimizer (which is not used by
the streaming component) is evaluating if the interface is present.
