Alberto Bustamante Reyes commented on GEODE-8004:
-------------------------------------------------

The "Unable to ping non-member" warn message comes from pingCorrectServer
method in Ping class. This method is called when a server receives a ping that
was intended to be received by other server.  Then it is verified if the target
server is a member in the distributed system. If not, the warn is logged. I
have realized that in that case, a MessageType.PING is returned, so I think
thats the problem causing the exception saying "Unexpected message type PING".

I think that just changing the message type to REPLY could solve the problem.
