I think I did have something basic working - I'll take a look. If I did, the 
branch is definitely somewhere.

Yes, the main issues I ran into were in the high-level nature of the library. 
Features of the SPICE protocol which would have translated nicely into 
corresponding features of the Guacamole protocol were kept internal, so any 
graphical operations optimized by SPICE would be effectively un-optimized 
before getting to guac. We get a primary surface, dirty rects, and that's it.
