Nick Couchman commented on GUACAMOLE-1874:
------------------------------------------

I'm not sure how well this would practically work, or at least how easy it
would be to do. When Guacamole starts a client connection, it does some things
like gathering the current screen size, checking for clipboard permissions,
audio, etc., that either need to happen in the foreground or could be confusing
and disruptive for users if there was confusion about what was the foreground
and what was not. Other developers may have more to say about this - maybe it's
easier than I think it is?

Also, there's a relatively simple work-around to this: Right-click and open in
new tab :-). I know that doesn't make use of the fancy multi-connection
capability built in to Guacamole, but it does allow you to leverage the
filtered connection list and open those connections immediately, without the
need to re-open the menu, type, etc.

>
> As explained in [the
> documentation|[https://guacamole.apache.org/doc/gug/using-guacamole.html#adding-a-connection-to-the-current-view],]
> it is possible to open multiple connection in the same view from an opened
> connection by using the guacamole {*}menu{*}.
> _It could be nice_ to add this feature in the guacamole {*}home page{*}.
> Example use case : I have an application with two frontend servers. I want to
> open a connection on both server in a single view to watch the frontend
> service's logs.
> * Currently :
> ** From the home page, I enter the "frontend" keyword in the filter.
> Connection to both frontend server is displayed.
> ** I have to click on one of my frontend server to open a connection.
> ** Then, I have to open the guacamole menu with CTRL + ALT + SHIFT, click on
> the connection name.
> ** Then, again, I enter "frontend" keyword in the filter and I click on the
> checkbox next to the second connection.
> * Proposed improvement :
> ** From the home page, I enter the "frontend" keyword in the filter.
> Connection to both frontend server is displayed.
> ** I click on the checkbox next to the first connection. It opens a
> connection displayed in the drop-down menu, so I am still on the home page
> and my search is still active.
> ** Then, I click on the checkbox next to the second connection which is
> added to last view.
> ** Finally, I can click on the connection in the drop-down menu to access
> both connections.
