Enis Soztutar commented on HBASE-10053: --------------------------------------- Hive is using ProtobufUtil methods because they serialize mutations for their serdes. I don't know the details of WHY they have to serialize mutations. +1 on the patch Interesting that ProtobufUtil does not have InterfaceAudience annotation. I think it is on the restricted-public side of things. > ProtobufUtil#toMutationNoData interface change causes downstream project > build break > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Key: HBASE-10053 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-10053 > Project: HBase > Issue Type: Bug > Reporter: Jeffrey Zhong > Assignee: Jeffrey Zhong > Priority: Critical > Fix For: 0.98.0 > > Attachments: hbase-10053.patch > > > {code} > public static MutationProto toMutationNoData(final MutationType type, final > Mutation mutation) > {code} > is gone which causes Hive build break. > {code} > [javac] > .../hbase-handler/src/java/org/apache/hadoop/hive/hbase/PutWritable.java:65: > toMutationNoData(org.apache.hadoop.hbase.protobuf.generated.ClientProtos.MutationProto.MutationType,org.apache.hadoop.hbase.client.Mutation,org.apache.hadoop.hbase.protobuf.generated.ClientProtos.MutationProto.Builder) > in org.apache.hadoop.hbase.protobuf.ProtobufUtil cannot be applied to > (org.apache.hadoop.hbase.protobuf.generated.ClientProtos.MutationProto.MutationType,org.apache.hadoop.hbase.client.Put) > [javac] ProtobufUtil.toMutationNoData(MutationType.PUT, > put).writeDelimitedTo(DataOutputOutputStream.from(out)); > {code} -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.1#6144)
