[~apurtell] I think it too radical a change for 0.98.  [~himan...@cloudera.com] 
made me change the subject to be FSHLog refactor.  The parent issue bought us a 
bunch of speedup when contention (at cost of some small slow down when low 
contention).  That is sweet enough for a major release?  What you reckon boss?
