Jimmy Xiang updated HBASE-10923:
--------------------------------

    Fix Version/s: 0.99.0
           Status: Patch Available (was: Reopened)

Attached a patch that places regions on master based on a configuration instead
of hard-coded settings. It doesn't change the default behavior for trunk.
However, it makes it possible not to put meta on the master so that we can fall
back to the old-style of master that doesn't host any region.

> There is a concern on placing meta regions on the master, as in the comments
> of HBASE-10569. I was thinking we should have a configuration for a load
> balancer to decide where to put it. Adjusting this configuration we can
> control whether to put the meta on master, or other region server.
