If that looks good ([~stack] any feedbacks?), it'd be great to have it
committed may be this week (like before merge of HBASE-10070 to trunk), as the
patch, given its size, may rot.
Also there're few other patches hanging around, which will need to be
rebased/merged against the changes made in this one.
