Liking the patch. I tried looking at the other products like cassandra,
accumulo whether they have any passive mode, but couldn't find any. This
provision is definitely sophisticated. It would be great if we can document the
behavior of this param thoroughly. Also, it would be good if we can create a
separate jira for adding a unit test (or may be we can add it here too, your
call).
