The item you cite could be a follow-on. What you have here is a nice first cut 
at a 'maintenance mode' (or, hang on, let me review it again before I call it 
'nice').

favored nodes.
Also skips normalizer, balancer, catalogjanitor runs as the old maintenance 
mode would.

This sounds good.
