Francis Christopher Liu commented on HBASE-11288: ------------------------------------------------- A deadline sounds fine to me as well. And yes I would definitely appreciate the help [~stack] as well as another perspective when we're writing the assessment. I've not done ITBLL with procv2 assignment issues before so my estimates may be a bit off, off-hand one week sounds like a best case scenario, two weeks sounds more reasonable (assuming no surprises at work). Let me think about it more. What do you think [~stack]? I'm assuming this estimate excludes the rebasing on branch-2, although I'm hoping it would be quick if the differences aren't that big. Just trying to make sure we won’t be writing an assessment we’ll find lacking reading it year or so from now. As mentioned before if the ITBLL test shows procv2 is not ready for 2-tiered assignment then it’s clear “general root table” is not an option. I proposed this when 2-tiered assignment readiness seemed to be the most concerning. When it became apparent the concern was because of hot spotting on the root table, I asked a question similar to this: What value are we getting out of having a specialized solution for root instead of fixing it for both the catalog tables (root and meta) as a whole and is it worth it? If there is another answer that is compelling like 2-tiered assignment readiness. That would definitely be something that would change my current thinking on the “master local region” approach. Hopefully I addressed your concern? Nice article [~stack] will go through it. [~zyork] good to see that this is getting picked up again.
