Pranav Sharma commented on HBASE-7893: -------------------------------------- Yes, it is quite possible that GC times are very long. For e.g. in the logs, I found no activity between * 2013-02-24 07:19:25 and 2013-02-24 07:28:57 * 2013-02-24 07:44:20,332 and 2013-02-24 08:18:41,943 I've posted my GC config above. Do you have any other suggestions in tuning the GC? Thanks. > hbase.hregion.majorcompaction not taking effect. > ------------------------------------------------ > > Key: HBASE-7893 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-7893 > Project: HBase > Issue Type: Bug > Components: Compaction > Affects Versions: 0.92.2 > Environment: Linux <hostname> 2.6.21.7-2.fc8xen-ec2-v1.0 #1 SMP Tue > Sep 1 10:25:30 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux > Fedora release 8 (Werewolf) > Reporter: Pranav Sharma > Attachments: hbase-hadoop-master-ip-10-118-138-149.log, > hbase-hadoop-regionserver-ip-10-118-187-126.log > > > For disabling auto major compaction, I configured > hbase.hregion.majorcompaction = 0 in the config file and restarted the > cluster.
