Sergey Shelukhin commented on HBASE-8015: ----------------------------------------- my point about backward compat was about the storage, not display. I.e. if people want to create a table "a.b" without namespace and be confused while viewing some table list, I think it's ok. Maybe we can disallow tables with dots. If they have existing table "a.b" and NS is stored separately, again the worst thing that happens is user gets confused, reads the release notes and renames it. Should be ok to. But if we /store/ NS in table name, then with table a.b, without special handing, system gets confused (thinks it's in NS "a") after upgrade :) > Support for Namespaces > ---------------------- > > Key: HBASE-8015 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-8015 > Project: HBase > Issue Type: New Feature > Reporter: Francis Liu > Assignee: Francis Liu > Attachments: NamespaceDesign.pdf > > -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA.
