Minor comments; overall looks good pending tests.
I think [~ekoifman] should review table structures, there seems to be some
duplication with ACID tables, it seems to be ok to me.
The inserts for the new stuff (Update, and setting the table update_id) will
probably need to be in the same DB transaction as the commit of Hive ACID
transaction.
