Stamatis Zampetakis commented on HIVE-29090:
--------------------------------------------
The files were removed from the repo in
[https://github.com/apache/hive/commit/b8f83110cce103585f739d9164856d7b5b9c8a0f.]
I will wait for the necessary updates on the website and then we can mark this
as resolved.
> Remove stale RELEASE_NOTES.txt, errata.txt, and .reviewboardrc from repo and

> The Hive source repository still contains legacy files that are unused or
> unmaintained but are included in (or associated with) release artifacts:
> * RELEASE_NOTES.txt — old in-tree release notes (e.g. 3.1.0 era); release
> information is maintained in JIRA and on the Hive website.
> * errata.txt — historical commit/errata notes, not actively maintained.
> * .reviewboardrc — configuration for Review Board, which the project no
> longer uses.
> Keeping these files adds noise and packaging maintenance without clear
> benefit.
> h2. Proposal
> Remove all three files from the repository root and update packaging so dist
> tarballs no longer include RELEASE_NOTES.txt or .reviewboardrc.
> h2. Discussion
> * Oct 2026 dev@ [DISCUSS]
