Lefty Leverenz commented on HIVE-12634:
---------------------------------------

Doc note: This will need to be documented, with release information, in the
Grammar Changes section of the Hive Transactions doc. Since it's TCL
(transaction control language), not DDL or DML, we don't have a separate syntax
doc for it.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/Hive+Transactions#HiveTransactions-GrammarChanges]

Just curious: Why is the syntax ABORT TRANSACTIONS instead of ROLLBACK?

This should also have a release note.

> Add command to kill an ACID transaction

> Should add a CLI command to abort a (runaway) transaction.
> This should clean up all state related to this txn.
> The initiator of this (if still alive) will get an error trying to
> heartbeat/commit, i.e. will become aware that the txn is dead.
