Colin Patrick McCabe commented on HTRACE-60:

Hi Lewis,
Thanks! We are hard at work on getting better visualizations for HTrace. See
HTRACE-29 for some more details about that. Once we get a better web UI, I
think we will update those graphics. We do have some ways of visualizing trace
spans already via exporting the data to Zipkin which could be helpful if you
want to kick the tires on the upcoming 3.1.0 release.
HTrace has been integrated into HBase and we're working on getting it into
Accumulo and HDFS. The goal is to have a way to follow requests all the way
through the system. Basically a tracing system that breaks down silos and
allows you to see a more global view of the cluster.

> I think the website is dynamite.
> I do however think that we could better communicate 'What HTrace is'.
> This could potentially feature right as you land on the index.html, or we
> could potentially link to it from there and have an entire page with some
> graphs showing what tracing is good for and what trace visualizations look
> like.
> I've not been able to implement HTrace in any serious setting however I am
> considering it for Apache Gora if I get the time.
> What do you guys think about this ticket? I am think from the perspective of
> someone completely new to HTrace!
