Hi @bk-mz we discussed this a bit in the last Iceberg community sync. The motivation here is to fix the position_deletes metadata table. Any other fix as you mentioned is either 1. intrusive as preivously we did not force user to reserve id ranges for partition field vs regular field (its possible today in spec for field id to be negative) 2. temporary fix (what happens if user makes 10k columns) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
