Thanks for the review @rdblue! My original intent was to keep the current Writer/Reader builder interfaces and implementations. Based on your comments, I feel we might want to consider creating completely new ReadBuilder/WriterBuilder object instead of keeping the old ones as much as possible. Am I right? That would be an even bigger change on the implementation side, as we need to create the new builders and either duplicate the current reader/writer code, or make sure that the implementation share as much as possible.
