I hate english, I feel "merged DVs" refers to the dvs that were merged?
Maybe
Merged DVs were created from duplicate deletion vectors but the duplicates
have been left as Orphan files. Writers should merge DV's prior to committing
Although this raises the question of why we aren't just deleting the
duplicates?
