For anyone looking at this, there's no significant cost for variants without shedding when creating/loading them. It takes write when shedding, but these benchmarks don't measure cost of queries over data, where the shedded variants should show significant speedup compared to just reading all the data. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
