@ajantha-bhat that's exactly my consideration as well. However, there are users that use for example ADLS, which has [support for atomic renames](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/data-lake-storage-namespace#the-benefits-of-a-hierarchical-namespace), [PR opened here](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/pull/6392).
