Rather than using Scala objects, which are awkward in Java, we like to use
Scala's conversions to get Java objects:
```java
import scala.collection.JavaConverters;
Map<String, String> javaMap =
JavaConverters.mapAsJavaMapConverter(sessionConf.getAll()).asJava();
```
