This problem didn't exit, when I installed OOO. 2. As noted below, the OOO file dialog doesn't show the behaviour. (Can be switched using Tools/Options; Openoffice.org/General/Use Openoffice.org dialogs) 3. Now comes the funny part: - end OOO - restart it - switch back to the KDE dialogs - again restart OOO => Now the KDE dialogs are fast again; will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
