This is a blocker for me unless someone can explain the devicemapper solution 
in detail. I'm trying create an Impala cluster (including Kudu) in multiple 
Docker containers where everything, including the data is within the 
containers, which I can then commit as images. This acts as a base set of 
images that my team can use for testing and other purposes. By having the data 
in an image I can distribute everything required through our private image 
repository. By requiring the use of a volume I'd need to find a way to 
distribute the data as well.
