I am in the process of starting a project for my management consulting company.
I want to use multidimensional or OLAP concept for my project. In my review of
open source technologies, a colleague recommended that I use Mondrian because
it is a mature technology and have been around for a long time but when I
searched for books I found Mondrian in Action. I purchased it and have been
happy with it but then a friend suggested that I use Apache Kylin. I never
heard of it before and then I search for books or publication but none exists.
I also noticed that it uses Hadoop for data source.
My question is would you recommend Kylin over Mondrian or do you suggest
finding ways to integrate both in my solution so that our customers can use
Mondrian component for smaller data footprint and use Kylin for Big Data type
processing. Thanks in advance for your advise.
