Mark Robert Miller commented on SOLR-14788:
-------------------------------------------

I'm pretty much fully focused on SOLR-14815 at this point.

Most tests were Ignored at some point for being flakey, but then you have to go
back and find out how your other changes have now affected things sometimes.

I've been focusing on them from the start based on importance and coverage,
balanced with very stable tests as that is one of the discovery tools needed
for this process.

Now that I'm at this more of a wrap up phase, I have to relax on test
performance, efficiency, stability. I chose my test sets at least semi
intelligently, so the main gains I was after are now locked in. I've had to
release my grip on 2 metrics and push more fully on completeness.

So I am working a bit quicker, using the test performance, my published
benchmarks, and Ishan's stress test as guardrails to ensure I'm not losing what
I've spent so long chasing. The changes get more and more minor and tweaky to
note.

Once the completeness angle is pushed out more fully in the next few weeks,
things will be in a spot where I can just come back later and groom the newer,
smaller changes and tests.

> I have stolen this title from Ishan or Noble and Ishan.
> This issue is meant to capture the work of a small team that is forming to
> push Solr and SolrCloud to the next phase.
> I have kicked off the work with an effort to create a very fast and solid
> base. That work is not 100% done, but it's ready to join the fight.
> Tim Potter has started giving me a tremendous hand in finishing up. Ishan and
> Noble have already contributed support and testing and have plans for
> additional work to shore up some of our current shortcomings.
> Others have expressed an interest in helping and hopefully they will pop up
> here as well.
> Let's organize and discuss our efforts here and in various sub issues.
