Ilan Ginzburg commented on SOLR-14788: -------------------------------------- Mark, just to be clear here, I don't +at all+ see the work I'm trying to do (removing Overseer) as competing +in any way+ with the work you do with the ref impl. Quite the opposite actually! Removing Overseer is more complex than I first thought because of cluster state caching and access so it's going to take more time. I hope your changes make it to/as master before I'm done, then I'll be happy to port/redo my changes on top of that branch rather than master that I'm currently using. I see the two initiatives trying to move things in the same direction: simplify the code and make it more efficient. I am not certain mine is going to succeed (will I manage to reimplement everything distributed? Will it be faster?) but I think there's a reasonable chance it will, so I need to try to find out... :) And if I fail at it, by trying I would have learned better how the whole thing works, so it wouldn't be completely wasted time anyway. > Solr: The Next Big Thing > ------------------------ > > Key: SOLR-14788 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-14788 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Task > Reporter: Mark Robert Miller > Assignee: Mark Robert Miller > Priority: Critical > > h3. > [!https://www.unicode.org/consortium/aacimg/1F46E.png!|https://www.unicode.org/consortium/adopted-characters.html#b1F46E]{color:#00875a}*The > Policeman is on duty!*{color} > {quote}_{color:#de350b}*When The Policeman is on duty, sit back, relax, and > have some fun.
