Elliotte Rusty Harold created MNG-6588:
------------------------------------------

Summary: Naming conventions should be more technical
                 Key: MNG-6588
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MNG-6588
             Project: Maven
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Documentation: General
    Affects Versions: 3.6.0
            Reporter: Elliotte Rusty Harold

We should give a precise grammar for group IDs, artifact IDs and versions on
https://maven.apache.org/guides/mini/guide-naming-conventions.html
rather than fuzzy language like "you can choose whatever name you want with
lowercase letters and no strange symbols"

This can probably be done by reference to the Java naming rules rather than
spelling it out.

The version section should mention semantic versioning and Snapshots.
