The most important question: Is the versions array totally sorted? Consider you 
are maintaining 2.9.x and 3.0.x branches. The following releases have happened 
in chronological order: 2.9.1, 2.9.2, 3.0.0, 3.0.1, 2.9.3, 3.1.0, 3.0.2, 3.1.1, 
2.9.4.
