In the artifact-by-SHA-1 path of the remote repository backend, the guard around the `.sha1` read tested the outer HEAD response, which is always 200 at that point, instead of the `.sha1` response. A 404 or 5xx body was then parsed as a checksum. The backend now reads the checksum only from a 200 response and accepts only a 40-character hex value. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
