### New feature, improvement proposal Maven as today supports "release" and "snapshot" artifacts, but both are (snapshots after resolving their possibly meta-version `-SNAPSHOT` into timestamped) handled as **immutable**. Given Maven is today _aware_ of artifact provenance (unless "groups" and MRMs are used), it should be able to handle "transient" artifacts as well. Example: a release is staged, someone pulls them from staging for testing purpose, but release/vote/QA fails, and artifacts are dropped. Today, the user who pulled them, will keep them forever (just like any other immutable release). This goes hand--in-hand with stricter provenance tracking as well. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
