`mvnd-1.x` stopped compiling its tests when #1793 switched the build to `--release`: the test-progress tests from #1670 call `List.of` in `mvnd-common` and `mvnd-surefire-progress` (built for Java 8) and `Stream.toList` in the integration tests (built for Java 11). They now use `Arrays.asList`, `Collections.emptyList` and `Collectors.toList`. Verified: `./mvnw install -DskipTests` under JDK 17 → every module compiles; `MessageTest`, `TerminalOutputTest` and `TestProgressAccumulatorTest` → 29 tests pass.
