Checking this against current sources: maven.mdo documents maven-4.1.0.xsd as the schema for Maven 4 (and maven-4.0.0.xsd for Maven 3). In the published https://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.1.0.xsd, the Parent type declares groupId, artifactId, version and relativePath all with minOccurs="0", so a parent without <version> validates against it. That seems to address the request in this issue, and Michael’s point that this is a model change beyond 4.0.0 matches the introduction of the 4.1.0 model and namespace. Could someone confirm whether this issue is obsolete and can be closed? If there’s a remaining gap, for example the IDE behavior when a POM still points to the 4.0.0 schema, please say which and I can look into it. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
