The JDK Toolchain section now says how the two common sources of `toolchains.xml` entries label a JDK: `actions/setup-java` writes its `java-version` input as given (`17`, `8`) and the distribution as vendor, while `generate-jdk-toolchains-xml` writes `java.version` and `java.vendor`. It shows which ranges match each, and that vendor matching ignores case. Same content as apache/maven-surefire#3569. Verified: actions/setup-java v6.1.0 `src/setup-java.ts` passes the `java-version` input to the toolchain entry (only `latest` is resolved); Maven 3.9.16 `VersionRange` → `[17,18)` matches `17` and `17.0.20`, `[8,9)` matches `8` but not `1.8.0_504`; vendor uses `equalsIgnoreCase`. --- To make clear that you license your contribution under the [Apache License Version 2.0, January 2004](https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0) check one of the following: - [x] I hereby declare this contribution to be licensed under the [Apache License Version 2.0, January 2004](https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0) - [ ] I hereby declare that I have filed an [Apache Individual Contributor License Agreement](https://www.apache.org/licenses/icla.pdf). -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
