It might be very useful to simply add the option to create tarballs with 
"--owner=root --group=root", since this is what every project needs.

I do not think it is necessary to add a lot of code to support specific uids 
and gids. I am not sure how useful that would be.

For my own case, if the plugin created by default tarballs with root/root, it 
would be great.
