Summary: HDFS Writer is closing inadvertently

We have a stop-gap fix to the issue of HDFSWriter breaking with a stream closed
exception at METRON-1153. This is not a satisfactory fix, because we still
dont' know what is causing it, but it lets us recover. We should figure out if
there is a more elegant way to fix this and figure out what's going on.
