This is a very nice and helpful feature to have.
I think it could be similar to plugin management of lots of other Apache
projects. For example in Solr, you can add the Maven dependency that comes with
plugin development library and test related frameworks. It would be easy to
build a single jar file for the plugin and customize the configuration file to
match the new classes. It would be very nice to have the same structure with
most of the extension points...
