If by breaking, you mean that they won't predict well anymore, then I don't think so. I fixed the bug, run your code (without bias reinitialization) and it looks like it works even better now (as imo it should), though I am not really sure how the output should look like as I have no experience with this model (but np.sum(masks) reacts to bias reinitialization now).
