It would be in the best interest of the community to discuss this. Given the low activity level and lack of discussion, I can't see how either 1 or 2 is possible. So from those options, it looks like the attic is the only path, but I think there are another two options: 4. Existing community members step up and are willing to contribute and provide project oversight. 5. Retire but continue development outside of GitHub.
